II. Cách dùng
1. Mang nghĩa "lái xe"
= to get somewhere by driving a car / to drive a particular type of vehicle regularly / to control a vehicle so that it moves somewhere

- Với nghĩa này, drive vừa là ngoại động từ, vừa là nội động từ
- drive someone to/from something
- drive along/down/through etc
- drive something along/into etc

- We usually drive to Italy, but this year we’re flying.
- She drives a bus for a living.
- Dad will drive us.
- Lee drove me to the airport. to know how to drive a vehicle
- Can’t you drive?
- to drive round the lake (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: đi xe quanh hồ)
- the carriage drives up to the gate (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: xe ngựa chạy lên đến tận cổng)
- to drive too fast (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: lái nhanh quá)
- I’ve been driving for 15 years and I’ve never had an accident.
- Usually, my sister drives and I read the map.
- You will drive carefully, won’t you?
- He drove along for several miles before he saw anyone.
- He drove his truck into a wall.
2. Mang nghĩa "dồn, xua, đánh đuổi, lùa, săn đuổi"
=to force someone to leave a place, usually the place where they live

3. Mang nghĩa "dồn vào thế, bắt buộc, khiến cho, làm cho"
=to force someone into a bad situation or state

- drive someone out of business

4. Mang nghĩa "làm ai tức điên / khó chịu"
=to annoy someone by doing something

- drive someone crazy/mad/up the wall/round the bend
- drive someone to desperation/despair
- drive someone to drink (=make someone feel very upset or annoyed)

5. Mang nghĩa "làm cho (máy...) chạy"
=to provide the power that makes something move

6. Mang nghĩa "làm ai quyết tâm/lên dây cót làm gì"
=to make someone work or try very hard / to make someone determined to do something
