I. Giới thiệu chung

II. Cách dùng
1. Mang nghĩa"không chắc chắn lắm"
=used for saying that you are not certain about something, or that something may or may not be true

- I wondered if perhaps he had fallen ill.
- It is perhaps not a good idea for a seven-year-old to use a calculator.
- Millson regarded her thoughtfully. Perhaps she was right.
- In the end they lose millions, perhaps billions.

- He does not paint for very long, perhaps for two and a half hours at a time.
- It was bulky, perhaps three feet long and almost as high.

- They'd come soon, perhaps when the radio broadcast was over.
2. Mang nghĩa"gần (dùng mô tả số liệu)"
=used when you are guessing a number or amount or are not certain about it

- Cook the potatoes until they are tender – perhaps 15 minutes.
3. Mang nghĩa"dùng khi gợi ý, khuyên ai đó"
=used when you are making a suggestion, giving advice, or making a polite request

- You don’t look well – perhaps you should go to the doctor.
- Perhaps we could all go out and have a meal sometime?
- Perhaps you can explain what went wrong?
- You use perhaps when you are making suggestions or giving advice.
- Perhaps is also used in formal English to introduce requests.
- Perhaps I may be permitted a few suggestions.
- Well, perhaps you'll come and see us at our place?
- Perhaps if you rang me when you got back to your office?
4. Mang nghĩa"dùng để nêu quan điểm (không chắc chắn lắm)"
=used for giving an opinion when you want to be polite and not seem too certain or definite

- Perhaps it would be better for his party if he resigned.
- His latest novel is perhaps his best.
- You use perhaps in opinions and remarks to make them appear less definite or more polite.
- Perhaps the most important lesson to be learned is that you simply cannot please everyone.

- The lesson from all of this is perhaps a broader one.
- Do you perhaps disapprove of Agatha Christie and her Poirot and Miss Marple?
- He was not perhaps physically the strongest in the class.
5. Mang nghĩa"dùng để hồi đáp câu hỏi mà ngụ ý không đồng tình"
=You can say perhaps as a response to a question or remark, when you do not want to agree or accept, but think that it would be rude to disagree or refuse.

- 'I'm sure we can make it,' he says. Perhaps, but it will not be easy.
