CÁCH LÀM DẠNG "DESCRIBE A PERSON" IELTS SPEAKING PART 2

Ngoài việc tham khảo PHÂN TÍCH ĐỀ THI 30/5/2020 IELTS WRITING TASK 2 (kèm bài sửa HS đạt 6.5), hôm nay, IELTS TUTOR giới thiệu cách trả lời cho dạng câu hỏi DESCRIBE A PERSON trong IELTS SPEAKING PART 2.

IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:

• Đề: Describe a famous person
  • Introduction mẫu: Well, the famous person I want to talk with you about is Michael Jackson, who used to be a world-renowned singer, dancer, performer, entertainer and the "King of Pop"
• Đề: Describe a leader 
  • Introduction mẫu: Well, the leader I want to talk with you about is Steve Jobs, who was the founder of the Apple company and a world-renowned entrepreneur   >> IELTS  TUTOR  hướng  dẫn  Từ vựng topic "Work" IELTS - Vocabulary
• Đề: Describe a small child 
  • Introduction mẫu: Well, the small child I want to talk about is called Rainy, who is my sister's daughter; she is currently 7 years old and studying in a primary school

• Câu hỏi thứ 2 hoặc 3 trong Cue Card thường là câu hỏi có từ nghi vấn What

IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:

Describe an old person who you want to talk about

• Câu hỏi WHAT: What you often do together?
• Câu trả lời: We often do a variety of things together, such as going fishing, chatting, and watching TV programmes
• Nhận thấy câu trả lời này dùng Cách 1 là liệt kê ví dụ such as going fishing, chatting, and watching TV programmes

IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:

Describe a good student

• Câu hỏi WHAT: What you learned from him/her?
• Câu trả lời: I benefited a lot from Rainy, learning from her attitude towards studying, her persistence, learning methods, and how to be a responsible person  >> IELTS  TUTOR  hướng  dẫn  Cách dùng BENEFIT (động từ, danh từ) & BENEFICIAL
• Nhận thấy câu trả lời này dùng Cách 1 là liệt kê ví dụ her attitude towards studying, her persistence, learning methods, and how to be a responsible person

Describe a person in the news you want to meet

• Câu hỏi WHAT: What you will ask when you have a chance to meet this person?
• Câu trả lời mẫu: Well, honestly, if I really had the honor and privilege of meeting her, probably I would ask her how she can touch people’s hearts so deeply when she is interviewing them. To be honest, I believe that is what most people would ask as well 
• Nhận thấy câu trả lời này dùng Cách 2 là Trả lời trực tiếp vào nội dung câu hỏi

IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:

• Để biết khi nào nên LIỆT KÊ (CÁCH 1) và khi nào nên TRẢ LỜI THEO KỂ CHUYỆN (CÁCH 2) mình phải luyện tập nhận diện nhiều đề, từ đó sẽ có được phản xạ gặp bài nào nên trả lời dạng nào, xét những ví dụ sau:

Describe a small child

• How old he / she is 
• What he / she looks like 
• What you often do together 
• And explain why you want to talk about him/her 

IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:

• Trong bài này có 2 câu hỏi what là:
  • what he/she looks like 
    • Mình có thể thấy là câu hỏi số 1 (what he/she looks like) mình phải dùng cách 1 là mình liệt kê những đặc điểm nhận diện, kể ra là trông em bé này như nào
      • IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: She is really adorable with sparkling eyes and rosy cheeks. I really like her smile because it makes her look like an angel   >> IELTS  TUTOR  hướng  dẫn  PARAPHRASE "I LIKE" & DIỄN TẢ "RẤT THÍCH CÁI GÌ ĐÓ"
  • what you often do together 
    • Trong câu hỏi số 2 (what you often do together) mình nhận ra là phải list ra những việc mình và em bé này hay làm chung với nhau, tức là dùng cách 1, liệt kê
      • IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: We haven’t seen each other a lot, but generally speaking, when we get together, we do a number of different things, such as playing a game, watching cartoons, or hanging out in a park

Describe a wild animal

• Where the animal comes from 
• When you saw this animal 
• What the animal looks like 
• And explain why you want to talk about it 

IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:

• Ở đây có 1 câu hỏi WHAT
  • What the animal looks like? 
    • Cũng tương tự như bài trên, mình sẽ dùng Cách 1 để liệt kê những đặc điểm nhận diện của Animal này 
      • IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: Basically, they have a charmingly naive appearance. I fancy koalas simply because they care cute-looking with large ears and sleek fur

IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:

• Câu hỏi thường gặp nhất trong dạng DESCRIBE A PERSON của câu hỏi WHEN sẽ là WHEN DID YOU MEET THIS PERSON?
• Đế ý cách chia thì:
  • Khi nói về sự việc xảy ra ở quá khứ thì sẽ dùng thì quá khứ
  • Trong một vài trường hợp sẽ có câu hỏi WHEN ở tương lai, thì sẽ bám sát vào thì của câu hỏi trong CUE CARD mà trả lời theo thì, ví dụ thì ở câu hỏi là tương lai, sẽ trả lời tương lai

IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:

Bài mẫu 1:

Describe a good student

• Câu hỏi: When you knew him / her?
• Câu trả lời: She used to be my classmate and desk-mate in high school 
• Ở đây vì câu hỏi là thì quá khứ, nên câu trả lời sẽ dùng thì quá khứ 

Bài mẫu 2:

Describe a person you want to travel with

• Câu hỏi: When you will travel with this person?
• Câu trả lời: I guess after I graduate from university, she will probably accompany me on a trip to Japan 
• Ở đây vì câu hỏi là thì tương lai, nên câu trả lời sẽ dùng thì tương lai

IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:

• Nếu số lần thực hiện hành động là cố định, thì sẽ trả lời 
  • IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: Normally, we usually hang out with each other during weekends / on a daily basis 
• Nếu số lần thực hiện hành động là không cố định, thì sẽ trả lời:
  • IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: It depends. Whenever I am in the mood for street food, we will go out to eat with each other

IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:

• Đây là câu hỏi quan trọng nhất và thí sinh nên dành thời gian nhiều nhất (khoảng 1 phút) trong các câu hỏi trong cue card của IELTS SPEAKING PART 2. 
• Nên sử dụng nhiều cấu trúc để mô tả, chứ không nên chỉ sử dụng các cấu trúc đơn giản như he is... thì sẽ không đạt điểm cao, nên dùng: The best word I can use to describe him is....
• Cách trả lời:
  • Giới thiệu khái quát I… for some reasons
  • Liệt kê 2 lý do cùng thông tin hỗ trợ:
    • Ý 1. Firstly, I feel / find that  >> By this, I mean… 
    • Ý 2. Besides, I also consider that / More importantly / Most importantly/ What matters most is that…>> This is due to the fact that / Simply because…
    • Kết luận: In short / All in all / In summary / To conclude / To sum up / In a word, thats why (IELTS TUTOR lưu ý: phần kết luận có thể có hoặc không tuỳ thuộc vào bài nói của mình dài hay ngắn, nếu ngắn quá thì có thể thêm vào để kéo dài bài ra, còn đã nói gần hết giờ thì có thể bỏ luôn phần kết luận)

Bài mẫu 1: Describe a person in the news you want to meet

Explain why you want to meet this person

I want to meet her for a number of reasons

• Firstly, I feel that Oprah is totally charismatic and charming (Main idea). 
  • From her show, I can feel that she is always sincere and considerate in the way she treats people around her. In fact, her charming personality, her articulate expression, and her charisma make her show greatly welcomed and loved by audiences around the globe (Supporting idea)
  • For example, as a tough-guy figure on the big screen, tom Cruise has never been moved and brought to tears on any show but Oprah’s, so you can tell how good Oprah is at touching people’s true feeling (Example)
• More importantly, Oprah is a tough and diligent person (Main idea) 
  • She has been through all sorts of ups and downs since she was little. Her story encouraged me, and she is a perfect example of the American dream, which is everyone can fully explore their potential and become richer regardless of social class or their birth circumstances as long as they work hard (Supporting idea)
• In short, those are the reasons why I always dream of meeting this amazing character 

Trong ví dụ trên mình thấy rõ, người viết đưa ra sẵn 2 lí do, kèm theo với đó là các thông tin chủ quan và khách quan trong mỗi lí do, cuối cùng là kết luận chốt lại vấn đề

Describe a person in the news you want to meet

• What the person does 
• How you came to know this person 
• What you will ask when you have a chance to meet this person 
• And explain why you want to meet this person 

Describe an old person who you want to talk about:

• Who the person  is 
• How  long  you  have  known  this  person  
• What  you often do together 
• And explain  why you want to talk about this person 

Describe a good student:

• Who the person is 
• When you knew him/her
• What you learned from him/her
• And explain why he/she is a good student 

Describe a famous person you want to meet:

• What the person does 
• What makes him / her appear in the news 
• What you want to say to him / her if you have a chance 
• And explain why you want to meet him/her 

Describe a person who you want to travel with:

• Who the person is 
• Where you want to travel to 
• When you will travel with this person 
• And explain why you want to travel with this person
